Our shea butter originates directly from the sun-drenched savannas of Ghana, West Africa, where we partner with a local women’s co-operative.Rather than using industrial factory processing, the women harvest wild shea nuts and extract the butter using centuries-old traditional methods: sun-drying, fire-roasting, milling, and hand-kneading with water. This solvent-free process keeps ancient artisan knowledge alive while providing sustainable income and financial independence for local Ghanaian women.

When shea butter is industrially "refined," high heat and chemical bleaching strip away its scent, color, and natural potency. We choose pure, unrefined organic shea butter to keep its bioactive matrix completely intact. Unrefined shea retains its natural cream-to-yellow hue and its full concentration of skin-nourishing lipids without chemical pesticides or synthetic additives.
